Higher-order coupled-mode fields of symmetrical dual-core optical fibers are analyzed by using group-theory adapted point-matching method. Effects of propagation constants of LP11 mode group of single-core fibers over the frequency-dependent field characteristics of dual-core optical fibers are clarified. Expressions of the dual-core fields in terms of the fields of LP11 mode group are also investigated.
