In this paper, we propose a coding scheme for directional images using diamond and fan filters. First, we introduce two-dimensional nonseparable diamond filter, and we explain a composition of proposed filter bank. Next, we examine the fundamental properties of our scheme by preliminary experiment about reproducibility of directional components at low bit rates. Finally, we show the effectivity of our scheme through computer simulation.
